Great Neck is a village home on the North Shore of Long Island in the town of North Hempstead. At first Great Neck went by the name of Madnan’s Neck until it was divided into two sections when the names were changed to Great Neck and Little Neck. The first inhabitants of the area were the Mattinecock Native Americans that were pushed back out of the area by settlers. The book written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby, reflected the transformation that the Great Neck area was experiencing during that time in history.

The Great Neck School District serves the area with around 6,000 students with three high schools, two middle schools, and four elementary schools. Great Neck is a wonderful place to live offering visitors a wide array of activities including a senior center, fine dining, locally owned businesses, and activities such as tennis and sailing.

The most popular attractions in Great Neck are the parks which include Steppingstone Park, Memorial Field, Allenwood Park, Kings Point Park, Village Green & Rose Garden, and the Parkwood Sports Complex. Each one offering a variety of activities from tennis to ice skating to pools.
